State Only Forums

by Lori Stiles, NAMPI Immediate Past President

For years, state program integrity employees have e-mailed peers in other states to ask for assistance or
program integrity-related questions. In writing this article, I went back and found e-mails as far back as
2009 that I had saved!

E-mails were our way of obtaining information or getting answers from each other on how we do
business. An e-mail would go out to a list of program integrity directors and, depending on how busy we
were when we received the e-mail, each of us would try and answer the questions or provide
information. Whether or not we responded, most inquiries would result in us getting dozens of reply e-
mails on a single topic. If later, there was a topic we were interested in finding out what the answers
were, there wasn’t an easy way to retrieve all the responses without going into dozens of individual e-
mail replies and reading each one (that we may or may not have saved).

With the NAMPI State Only Forum, we can now ask questions and provide information to others without
sending e-mails. We no longer need to search for all the related e-mails, and we can quickly find what
we need on the NAMPI website. We can also find topics and promptly reply to an inquiry that we may not
have had time to respond to when it was first sent.

NAMPI’s State Only Forum is a beautiful communication tool that I encourage everyone to use. The
more we use this tool, the fewer e-mails we will need to send out because the State Only Forum will be
our “go-to” place for valuable information. I hope to see all of you in the State Only Forum discussions!
