State Utilization Review Program Manuals
Does anyone have their State Utilization Review Program documented and are willing to share? Our Medicaid Director is interested in working with my Office to produce one for our state and it would be great to have an example to build from.

Hi Julie, In Utah we complete a Preliminary Investigation report and a Request for Full Investigation, which serves as a cover sheet for the referral. CMS Directed Reviews of MCEs by the UPICs
I was told in our monthly UPIC coordination meeting that CMS has directed the UPICs to start reviews of Managed Care Entities. Has anyone else heard that? Is this raising concern for anybody else that the UPICs role seems to be taking a turn. We’ve always been told that the UPICs conduct reviews directed by us, not by CMS.
