NAMPI Happenings – A Year… Or Two… In Review

Kelly Bennett

In 2020, NAMPI took on a number of exciting new opportunities (did you like that – how I didn’t call them challenges!) including our first-ever virtual conference.  In the latter part of the year, we also started a new webinar series to continue the conversations, collaborations, and educational opportunities.  After all,  let’s not limit ourselves to an association that has a once-a-year training when we can be an organization that strives to keep these important conversations going through the year. In 2021 we continued the webinar series.

2021 Webinars:

• March 31: Conversation with the States

• June 29: NAMPI Academy: A Discussion of Health Care Fraud and Abuse Trends with the FBI and HHS-OIG

• August 26: NAMPI Academy: COVID Coding and the New Rules

• October 26: NAMPI Academy: What Is New for Diversion Control?

• December 14: NAMPI Academy: The Role of FWA in Health Inequity and Disparities Part 1

For each of these webinars we had well over 200 registered attendees (typically pushing 250 or more, and even once exceeding 300) – this doesn’t count any attendees who participated in someone else’s office or in a conference room with others.

The Conversation with the States is intended as an informal/casual discussion with state Program Integrity personnel discussing (maybe even debating) hot topics. This is a panel discussion that is near and dear to the NAMPI Board – something we think should be continued and included in the series at least several times a year.

The remainder of the 2021 webinars were substantive training – from fraud and abuse trends to further reaching topics. Remember, the substance of these sessions is within your control as a member. To help us bring you the content that’s most relevant, we need to hear from you.  So please reach out to your Regional Representative or join the conversation in your member portal to share your thoughts.

Feel free to send information not only about topics you’d like to hear more about but presenters you think we should consider. We are not opposed to reaching out to people, particularly if you have heard someone speak on a topic in another forum and think our membership would benefit from it. We are also open to opening the webinars up to sponsorship by our vendor partners so that we can create the opportunity to secure paid speakers on some topics where necessary.

We’re looking forward to another year of discussions and opportunities through our community and hope you’ll join the conversation.
